Learn About the Fountain & Tallman Museum

The building of the Fountain & Tallman Museum was constructed in 1852, making it the oldest standing building along Main Street. Back then, it served as the location for John Fountain and Benjamin Tallman’s Soda Works. Since the water from the local creeks was unsafe for drinking, miners and residents drank their carbonated water products. The building has been home to additional businesses since then, but today, you’re invited to walk inside and see some incredible artifacts!

Visitor Information: The Fountain & Tallman Museum, formerly known as the Placerville Historical Museum, is open from Wednesday through Sunday, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged!
