Your Guide to the Placerville Art and Wine Festival
Sights, Sounds, and Tastes of the Town
Every September, the Placerville Downtown Association hosts its Art and Wine Festival on Historic Main Street. The event features over 35 selections from local foothill wineries, offering a wide range of lesser-known, but excellent, wines. You can sample anything from sauvignon blanc to merlot while enjoying the lively atmosphere of our historic mining town. If you happen to be the “designated driver” for the night, free coffee and water are available.
As you sip your beverage of choice, stroll down Historic Main Street and admire the “Banners on Parade” community art project. The banners are auctioned off during the evening with the help of the Soroptimists Club of Placerville. This collaborative art project between artists, businesses, organizations, individuals, and the city government remains on display from June to October to promote art in the community. You can even look at the banners online before attending the festival. If one catches your eye, bid on a banner to own a piece of Placerville art history.
The Placerville Art and Wine Festival would not be complete with live music and food. Live music plays up and down Historic Main Street, providing a soundtrack to your art viewing experience. Merchants also offer hors-d’oeuvres to complement every wine selection.
The cost to sample wines at the Placerville Art and Wine Festival is $30. There is no cost to attend the festival if you are a designated driver. Tickets can be purchased online or at locations around Placerville. Tickets to the festival are limited, so grab them now while you still can!
