Quench your thirst for a brew with a getaway at Eden Vale Inn and have a fantastic time exploring the El Dorado Ale Trail. The five breweries listed here are located on the trail and we highly recommend them, as all offer unique and delicious microbrews that set themselves apart with the quality of their brewing and the passion poured into every glass. Make a vacation out of it at Eden Vale in comfy accommodations and have a memorable stay visiting the many top-rated Placerville breweries. All locations are less than a 30-minute drive away from the Inn and have had their distances included for ease of planning.
Gold Hill Vineyard & Brewery
First up on our list is Gold Hill, unique amongst others as both a vineyard and brewery. They brew using traditional methods, making beers that draw upon hundreds of years of brewing knowledge. Here you’ll find timeless brews like Old Miner’s Scotch, a classic Scottish session beer, and Hank’s Porter, a “honey porter” originating from England that is a historical precursor to the Stout and grew in popularity with the English working class during the 19th century. They offer other excellent options as well, and all of these brews can be bought in growlers so you can take some back to the Inn!
El Dorado Brewing Company
Inspired by the mountainous terrain of Diamond Springs and the surrounding area, El Dorado makes beer with a distinctly west coast flair using crisp and refreshing mountain water. Get a taste of their signature Real Mountain Ale, a smooth amber that goes down easy, or their Gold Rush Lager based on a beer popular in California during the mid-19th century. You can take some back with you in a traditional growler as well as individual 22-ounce bottles. They also host holiday events, live music, and more, so be on the lookout for something happening during your stay!
Solid Ground Brewery & Winery
As the name suggests, these guys are a seriously solid choice of brewery with a wide variety of offerings, including their own ciders. All their names have a story, like Devil’s Leap: an Imperial Stout named after a 5,200 elevation cliff in Wyoming, and Gneiss: a Nitro Dry Irish Stout named after some of the oldest metamorphic rocks found in Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland. Many of their beers and ciders are offered in 16 oz four-packs, and they also have a limited food menu with selections that pair well with brews on tap, so stop by for a bite to eat and get the full experience!
Placerville Public House
This place has got it all, a cozy atmosphere, delicious craft brews, and a diverse menu with dishes made using organic and local ingredients. Their spin on traditional “pub grub” eschews more greasy offerings in favor of freshness without sacrificing flavor, like their Banh Mi Tacos, Tri-Tip Philly, and Farmers Market Flatbread. Their beers are no slouch either, with a rotating selection of craft brews on tap as well as local ciders and even hard kombucha!
Highway 50 Brewery
Part of what makes the beer at Highway 50 truly special is the attention and care given to every batch by their dedicated brewmaster, Gary Ritz. Made in traditional copper brew vats with an emphasis on only the highest quality ingredients, every beer that reaches the taps is a labor of love from a lifetime of dedication and brewing experience. The selection isn’t fixed and can vary based on guest requests, trends in the industry, or even simply the whims of the brewer himself! An unpretentious and cozy atmosphere makes for a wonderful visit, and with live music and events happening all year round, there’s always something going on at Highway 50.
