Passing through California’s historic Gold Rush country, the El Dorado Trail runs more than 28 miles. The paved, and most useable section of the trail, is from Camino, 7.4 miles east of Placerville, to the Missouri Flat Trailhead, 6.1 miles west of Placerville for a total of 13.5 miles.
The entire trail follows two former rail lines, the Southern Pacific Railroad and Michigan-California Railroad, and is designed to accommodate hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians. The western parts of the trail are dirt and gravel.
