Specials of the house are many but include tender, hot out of the oven scones, scrumptious blueberry buttermilk pancakes, with local blueberries from Georgetown, fresh squeezed juice from locally grown oranges, and flaky quiches made with just picked tomatoes and herbs from the garden. Eden Vale Inn is in the country and you’ll have to drive a little for dining. El Dorado County is home to many small family farms. Marrying Sierra Foothills wines, local farms and good healthy food, a number of excellent chefs have made El Dorado County their home. The restaurants in Placerville, Coloma, Cameron Park and El Dorado Hills have developed a wide variety of cuisines and restaurant styles. This can be a great option any time. If you bring take-out to Eden Vale Inn, we’ll set you up at a table of your choice inside or outside. In our covered Pavilion, we have a fully equipped-outdoor kitchen, with plates, cups, glasses, napkins and utensils. For those who want to prepare a full meal from scratch you can use this kitchen. Or, just use the microwave to reheat your take-out from Allez. The kitchen is available first come first serve unless you have requested that we reserve it for you. The kitchen includes: a Jenn-air cooktop, large microwave, ice maker, small refrigerator, dishwasher and barbeque (not under cover of a roof). We ask that you clean up when you are done. Additionally, you can can picnic at a winery, the Marshall Gold Discovery State Park in Coloma, Henningsen Lotus Park along the American River or, many other places, afternoon or evening.

If you are driving from Sacramento, you can easily stop at the Nugget Market, just off the freeway in the Town Center of El Dorado Hills. This is a high-end grocer who has excellent takeout food, cheese, breads and wine. From Hwy 50, take the El Dorado Hills exit to Latrobe Road, you’re heading south, and go left into Town Center. If you are driving from Placerville, you can easily stop at the Safeway. This is a better than average Safeway and they have a takeout food section in the left front (sandwiches can be salty). From Hwy 50 take exit 44, the Missouri Flat exit.
Dedrick’s Cheese, Wine Smith and Zia’s
West End of Main Street in Placerville (312 Main St). Pick up some cheese, bread and olives from Dedrick’s and a bottle of wine from the Wine Smith! Zia’s has gelato, and tasty Italian take-outs like Paninis (the Italian Sandwich). Across the street is Winterhill, an El Dorado County olive oil company.
